六氯化钨-正丁基锂(1)与六氯化钨-锌(2)能将亚砜还原为相应的硫醚,将N-氧化吡啶还原为吡啶,在合适的条件下,产率高于90%.分离了六氯化钨与正丁基锂在四氢呋喃中产生的低价钨化合物,运用物理分析方法(ESCA,IR,1H和13C NMR)测得其组成为WCl4(THF)n.

Reduction of sulfoxides with low valent tungsten reagents derived from WCl6/BuLi and WCl6/Zn was studied. The sulfoxides are converted to corresponding sulfides in good yields. Pyridine N-oxides are also reduced easily with WCl6/BuLi to give the corresponding pyridines in almost quant. yields. A yellow solid WCl4(THF)n is isolated from the reaction of one mole of WCl6 with two moles of BuLi in THF at low temperature, and its composition is established by using ESCA, IR, 1H and 13C NMR. Reaction of WCl4(THF)n with pyridine gives the known WCl4(C5H5N)2.
