Synthesis of CdS Nanoplates Using Poly(acrylic acid) as Precursor by Hydrothermal Method

Abstract：Triangular and hexagonal CdS nanoplates, with an average size of about 100 nm, have been synthesized via a poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) assisted hydrothermal process at 180 ℃. X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared absorption spectroscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy were used to characterize the chemical composition, size, shape, and structure of the product. The possible formation mechanism of CdS nanoplates has been proposed according to the experiment results. Additionally, the reaction solvent was demonstrated to be critical for the nanomaterials morphology.
