Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Studies on Properties of A Novel Type of D-π-D-π-D Ferrocene Derivative

A novel solid D-π-D-π-D ferrocene derivative: 1,4-dibutoxy-2,5-bis(2-ferrocenylvinyl)benzene, was synthesized through Wittig reaction, and it has been characterized by 1H NMR, IR and MS. The crystal structure of the compound has been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. It crystallizes in monoclinic crystal system and C2/c space group. Redox process of the compound was studied using cyclic voltammetry, rapid-scan time-resolved FT-IR spectroscopy methods and cyclic voltabsorptometry (CVAs), and the two-photon absorption of the compound was measured by the Z-scan technique at 532 nm. The results show that there is a good electronic delocalization in the molecule and two-photon absorption response for it.
