Synthesis of 5-Arylmethylene Thiobarbituric Acids under Solvent- Free Conditions

Abstract

5-Arylmethylene thiobarbituric acids have been efficiently prepared by Knoevenagel condensation of aromatic aldehydes and thiobarbituric acid under the solid state conditions of grinding at room temperature, or heating, or microwave irradiation without organic solvent and catalyst. The products were identified by ~1 NMR,~(13)C NMR and IR spectra
