Abstract: Vacuum liquid chromatog. was used to sep. >10 but <20 kinds of terpenes in Anemonia sulcata in the sea near Okinawa, Japan. The sample was extracted with acetone and concentrated followed by extration with n-hexane and the extract was dissolved in n-hexane-ethyl acetate (8:2 vol./vol.) and placed on Merek silica gel H 60. Gradient elutions were carried out using n-hexane 100%, n-hexane-Et acetate (95:5, 9:1, 8:2, and 6:4 vol./vol.) and finally Et acetate 100%. Each fraction was 200 mL and 10 fractions were collected. Total time spent was 2 h. Advantages and disadvantages of this method are described.5
