Formation of ozone by mercury photosensitized reaction was extensively studied. The longer line 2537.5Å of mercury resonance radiation can produce ozone indirectly through the excitation of mercury atoms, whereas the shorter line 1849.6Å accomplishes this reaction both directly and indirectly.
