Cucurbitine, the active principle of Cucurbita moschata, which inhibited the growth of immature Schistosoma japonicum, was shown to be either 4-amino-3-carboxylpyrroli-dine or 3-amino-3-carboxylpyrrolidine.Attempts have been made in the present work to synthesize these two compounds in order to find out which one is identical with thenatural product.
