In this communication, the syntheses of DL-N-dichloroacetyl-7-nitrotryptophan (Ⅷ), its ethyl ester (ⅩⅠ), DL-7-nitrotryptophan hydrochloride (Ⅸ), its ethyl ester (ⅩⅡ), 7-nitro-indolylacetic acid (Ⅹ), and its methyl and ethyl esters (ⅩⅢ:and ⅩⅢ) and Ⅶ are reported.Moreover, Ⅱ was also prepared.
