Abstract

L-Citrulline dihydrate and a-hydroxymethylserine were isolated from Tianhuafen, the root tuber of Trichosanthes kirilowii. A detailed method for isolation and characterization of these compounds is described. The compounds were purified by cellulose column chromatog. Tianhuafen contained L-citrulline dihydrate and a-hydroxymethylserine at 772 and 67 ppm, resp.
