A kinetic study on the ligand exchanges between bis (alkylxanthato)palladium (II) by high-performance liquid chromatography

The kinetics of ligand exchange between bis(alkylxanthato)palladium(II) complexes were studied at 12-32? The equilibrium constants determine were always 4.0 ?0.5, consistent with the value calculated statistically. Both the forward and backward reactions are 2nd-order. Isokinetic relations were observed A decreasing reaction rate was found in various solvents with CCl4 > CHCl3 > CH2Cl2. An 8-membered ring species is proposed as the intermediate in the rate-detg. step.
