The reaction of N2H4 with several Ag coordination compounds was studied. A trace amount of Cu(II) ion is an effective catalyst. With an increase of the stability constants (b2) of the Ag coordination compounds, the rate of the 4-electron redox reaction of N2H4 decreases. The rate of the reaction vs. logb2 of the Ag coordination compounds is linear in the absence of Cu(II) ion. In the presence of Cu(II) ion, the logarithm of the rate of the reaction is proportional to 1/logb2.
