Four substituted a,b,b-trifluorostyrenes (TFS) were prepared The rate constants of the thermal cyclodimerization of two of them were measured at 120-160? Their polar parameters were calculated from the 19F NMR chem. shifts. The spin delocalization substituent parameters of p-trimethylsilyl and p-acetyl groups are 0.29 and 0.50, resp.
