Unsym. diacyl ferrocene derivatives, 1-acetyl-1'-halogen substituted benzoyl ferrocene were synthesized from acetyl ferrocene and the corresponding acyl chloride in the presence of AlCl3 under reflux or at room temperature Besides the expected product, 1,3-diferrocenylbut-2-en-1-one was obtained as a byproduct when the reaction was carried out under reflux temperature 1-Acetyl-1'-palmitoyl ferrocene and 1-benzoyl-1'-palmitoyl ferrocene were synthesized from palmitoyl ferrocene in a similar way. The IR, 1H NMR spectra of all the compounds were discussed.
