Reactivity of oxidative cleavage of 1,2-diketones mediated by selective binding of cyclodextrins and derivatives of amylose

The effects of cyclodextrins and water soluble derivatives of amylose on the oxidative cleavage reaction of RCOCOR (R = Ph, p-tolyl) have been studied. In the case of cyclodextrins, it was found that the stability of inclusion complex depends on the fitness of cyclodextrins. However, when amylose was used as host, the stability of formed helical inclusion complex are determine by both of the degree of substitution of amylose derivative and hydrophobicity of the substrate.
