The C3-ethyleneglycolketal-butyl compounds3(R=CH3,C2H5) obtained from selective protection of symmetrical triketones 1 (R=CH3,C2H5) with ethylene glycol were asymmetrically reduced to the optically active hydrogy-compouds 4 (R=CH3,C2H5) by Saccharomyces cerewisiae (2.346).The strnctnre and configuration of compounds 4(R=CH3,C2H5)were established by converting them into the known compound 7 (R=CH3,C2H5).
