On treatment with sodium ethylate 1,7-diphenylheptandione-1,7 (1b) was converted into a mixture of 1-phenyl-2-benzoylcydohexanol (4b),2-phenyl-3-benzoyloydohexene (8b)and 1-phenyl-2-benzoyloyolohexene (2b).When treated with sodium ethylate, 4b was converted into 8b.
