The title compound (Ⅸ) has been synthesized with 16α-hydroxy compound (Ⅲ) or its diacetate (Ⅳ) as the starting material in four steps, namely through hydroxylation (Ⅴ),acetonide formation (Ⅶ),and oxidations (Ⅷ, Ⅸ).
