In the present paper a method of detecting molybdenum with xylenol orange has been proposed.After being reduced with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in 1.5-2 N HCl or HCIO4 solution,molybdenum reacted with xylenol orange at pH 2-3 and the solution turned to red-purple or orange colour,which confirmed the presence of molybdenum.
