Quinaldinic acid has been employed in the determinations of cadmium, copper, iron uranium, zinc[1,2], palladium[3], thorium[4,5] and zirconium[5]. Erämetsä[4] as well as Majumdar[5] reported that thorium can be separated from rare earth metals.
