With,view io synthesize a simple functional derivative of pon to leno (Ⅰ) so as to testily Ilückel's theory of aromaticity,the compound biuyelo (3.3.0) octa,-3,7-dion-2,6-diooe (Ⅲ),(the enol form of which is 1,4-dihydroxypentalene(1Ⅰ),was obtained.
