The complexes (CH~3OCH~2CH~2C~5H~4)~2Ln(C~5H~5) (Ln=La,Pr,Nd) were synthesized via the reaction of bis (2-methoxylethylcyclopentadienyl) chlorides of early lanthanide with sodium cyclopentadienyl in THF. The new complexes were identified by IR, ^1H NMR, ^1^3C NMR, MS, XPS and elemental analyses. Reduction of 1-hexene with different tricyclopentadienyl lanthanides / NaH system was investigated. The reducing activity depends strongly upon the coordination sphere of the rare earth ion.
