Fluorescence-enhancement Sensor for I- Based on Coumarin in Aqueous Solution

A novel fluorescent molecular sensor CI based on coumarin thiosemicarbazide for I- was designed and synthesized. The structure of CI was identified by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, GC/MS and elemental analysis, and the spectral properties of CI was investigated. In neutral buffer solution, CI exhibited specific recognition for I- among anions (F-, Cl-, Br-, I-, AcO-, HSO4-, H2PO4- ). The addition of I- led to 80 nm blue-shift in absorbance maximum, a 6 nm blue-shift in fluorescence maximum, a 5.9-fold fluorescence enhancement and an obvious fluorescence change from yellowish green to brilliant blue. Other anions had no interference for CI to detect I-.
