Two series of piperazines,alkyl 1-methyl-piperazine-4-dithiocarbamate citrates and 1-methyl-4-aryl-thiocarbamyl-piperazine citrates have been- prepared for testing their therapeutic effect in the treatment of Schistosomiasis Japonica.The starting material used for these two series was 1-methyl-piperazine,prepared from piperazine by means of partial reductive methylation.By the interaction of I-methyl-piperazine with sodium ethoxide and carbon disulfide,we obtained sodium 1-methyl-piperazine-4-dithiocarbamate.This sodium salt reacted with alkyl halides to form alkyl I-methyl-piperazine-4-dithiocarbamates.1-Methyl-4-aryl-thiocarbamyl-piperazines were prepared from 1-methyl-piperazine and the ap-propriateenyl isothiocyanates in ether solution.
