A simple, rapid and fairly accurate method for the determination of aluminum has been developed. It consists of the isolation of aluminum with sodium hydroxide and sodium chloride in connection with trilon-B titration. The separation of aluminum from iron and titanium by means of sodium chloride-sodium hydroxide method is quite complete in a single treatment. The amount of aluminum, iron and titanium may vary within wide ranges, so that the method may be applied to iron or manganese ores as well as silicate rocks. The end point of titration with hematozylin as indicator has been modified so that consistent results can be obtained.
