1.A recirculating capillary viscometer suitable for the study of settling suspensions has been designed, and it is suggested that the out-flow correction must be taken into consideration.2.It is found that the rate of flow-stress curve of muddy water, when its concentration is larger than 2-3 wt.%，is generally of the sigmoid shape.
