Agrimophol (Ⅰ_a) has been obtained by total synthesis from ψ-aspidinol (Ⅵ: R=CH₃),2, 4-dimethyl-6-(a-methyl-butyryl)-phlorogluoinol (Ⅷ R=CH₃) and formaldehyde in acid condition. Thus, the structure suggested for agrimophol, isolated from the root-sprout of Agrimonia Pilosa Ladeb, in optically inactive form as a taenifuge constituent, is fully substantiated.
