The oil sample was obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and tender branches of Rhododendron anthoPogonoides Magim. gathered in the Datung County of Qinghai Province with yields of 0.7~1.9%. It possesses a strongly aromatic and characteristio odour and has the following physico-chemical constants:n_D²⁰ 1.5075; d₄²⁰ 0.9575; [a]_D+10.1° (c. 4, C₂H₅OH); acid number 1.332; ester number 19.21.
