Man-shan-bai(Rhododendron seniavinii Maxim.),a Chinese herb, was widely distributed in Jianyang District of Fujian Province.Recently, the result of clinical trial showed its definite efileacy in the treatment of chronic bronchitis.From the hot water soluble part of the alcohol eztract of its leaves, three crystalline compounds 1~3 were isolated by eatraotion with ethyl acetate and chromatography on the polyamide column.Fronn the hot water insoluble part, four crystalline compounds 4~7 were isolated by silica gel chromatography.These seven crystalline compounds are identified as hyperin (1), quercitrin (2),quereetin (3), friedelin (4), α-amyrin (5),β-sitosterol (6) and epifriedclin (7) rospeetively, acooxding to their spectroscopic and physioo-chemical data.
