According to the theory of thermokinetics, the equation of thermoanalytical curve for consecutive first-order reaction occurred in conduction calorimeter has been derived and a novel thermokinetic research method-the self-function regression method for consecutive first-order reactions, which can be used to determine the rate constants of two steps simultaneously is proposed in this research. In order to test the validity of this method, saponifications of diethyl phthalate and diethyl succinate in aqueous ethanol solvent were studied. The rate constants calculated using this method are in good agreement with those in the literatures. Therefore, the self- function regression method for consecutive first-order reactions is believed to be correct.
