高纯度可溶性单壁碳纳米管的吸收光谱

Absorption Spectrum of Highly Pure and Soluble Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes

Raw electric-arc-produced single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) treated by K2S2O8 oxidation in dilute sulfuric acid solution have very good solubility in water, DMF, ethanol and other polar solvents. Application of a dispersion-centrifugation cycle yielded a highly pure and soluble SWNTs sample, which was evaluated by solution-phase optical absorption spectroscopy. In sharp contrast to the starting materials, thus obtained SWNTs demonstrate many fine features, highly elevated intensity of the semiconducting absorptions in their UV-vis-NIR spectra. By referring to an “impurity-free” sample, the relative purity of the soluble sample reaches a value as high as 160% with monodispersity of 5%.
