Interaction between Sm(III)(MTB)2 Metal Complex and Herring Sperm DNA

The mechanism of interaction between Sm(III)(MTB)2 [methylthymol blue-Sm(III)] metal complex and herring sperm DNA has been studied by using neutral red (NR) as a spectral probe with the ways of UV-Vis spectra, fluorescence spectra and viscometric method in buffer solution of Tris-HCl (pH=7.25). It was confirmed that intercalation binding was the mode of interaction between Sm(III)(MTB)2 complex and herring sperm DNA. The results indicate that the functions of herring sperm DNA were changed with the interaction between Sm(III)(MTB)2 rare earth metal complex and herring sperm DNA.
