SrTiO3 spherical nanoparticles with a diameter of 20~80 nm and SrTiO3 rod-like nanoparticles with a diameter of 30~150 nm and length up to 300~1200 nm were synthesized in a reverse microemulsion consisting of Triton X-100, cyclohexane, n-hexanol and aqueous solution, using strontium hydroxide and tetrabutyl titanate as starting materials. The structure, compositions and morphology of the obtained samples were characterized by XRD, ICP, TEM, SAED and SEM, and the distribution of particle sizes was analysed by DLS. The results show that the molar ratio of water to surfactant (ω0), the concentration of reactants, and ageing time can all affect the morphology and size of SrTiO3 nanoparticles. The prepared SrTiO3 having narrow particle size distribution belongs to cubic phase, with the molar ratio of strontium to titanate of about 1.0 and a single crystal structure.
Key words: strontium titanate, reverse microemulsion, controlled synthesis
