Dihydromyricetin (DMY) is a kind of 2,3-dihydroflavonol compound extracted from Ampelopsis grossedentata (Hand-Mazz) W. T. Wang, which plays a role in anti-cancer processes, anti-oxidization and blood sugar adjustment, but the mechanism of its anti-cancer role remains unclear. In this article G-quartet properties were examined through Tm values and CD spectrometry. The interaction between DMY and G-quartet was investigated through Ultra-Violet spectrometry and competitive binding method. DMY was demonstrated to bind G-quartet via exterior stacking, inhibit telomerase activity by stabilizing G-quartet and hence played anti-cancer role.
