Highly-yielded TiO2@SiO2 submicron-scaled coaxial cables have been successfully synthesized via a static electricity spinning technology. The microstructures and components of the samples were studied by TGA-DTA, XRD, SEM, TEM, EDS and FTIR techniques. The as-prepared sub-micro coaxial cables with a mean diameter of 450 nm and shell thickness of 90 nm had a crystalline TiO2 core and an amorphous shell of SiO2. The length of the TiO2@SiO2 cable was longer than 300 μm. Some submicron tubes were also found in the samples, and their formation mechanisms were also discussed in detail.
