Preparation of Porous WO3 Films by Sol-Gel Process Using Amphiphilic Copolymer as Template and Their Hydrogen Gasochromic Properties

Porous tungsten oxide films were prepared using a sol-gel process with the tungstic chloride as the source material using amphiphilic copolymers, poly(styrene-co-allyl alcohol) (PS-co-PAAL) and poly(ethylene oxide)-block-poly(propylene oxide)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-b-PPO-b-PEO), as template respectively. The effect of polymer template and annealed temperature on the porous structure of the WO3 films was investigated by thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), X-ray powder diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM). The H2 gasochromic property and the change of visible transmittance before and after bleached were characterized by the test of H2 gas-sensing with combination of UV-visible spectrophotometer. The results indicated that the WO3 films prepared using PS-co-PAAL as template and annealed at 400 ℃ had crosslinked and porous structure, and showed the best H2 gasochromic property.
