The mixed precursors of oxalic iron and oxalic cobalt were prepared with oxalic acid, nitric iron, nitric cobalt and PEG of different polymerization degrees by a low-heating solid-state reaction, and reacted for 2 h at different temperature (25, 60, 70, 75 ℃). A powder was obtained after calcination at 450 ℃, and characterized by XRD, SEM and laser granularity analysis. The stick-like CoFe2O4 powder was obtained with PEG400 at 75 ℃, with its proportion of length to diameter in a range of 6~15, in a cube lattice spinel structure. The electromagnetic property was studied by the relative dielectric constant and relative magnetic permeability of the ferrite. The magnetic permeability of the stick-like CoFe2O4 is about once and the anisotropy constant is about 5 times larger than those grain-like one in a frequency range of 15~20 GHz. The stick-like CoFe2O4 has fine application foreground by way to materials of absorbing electromagnetic wave in future.
Key words: CoFe2O4, one-dimensional stick-like, low-heating solid-state reaction, magnetic permeability, absorbing material
