Three Electrostatically Self-assembled Multilayer Films Prepared from Bipolar Hemicyanines and WO3 Colloidal Particles

Three electrostatically self-assembled multilayer films were prepared by alternative adsorption of WO3 and three dipolar hemicyanine derivatives carrying one, three and six CH2, respectively and studied by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and photoelectrochemistry. The films were uniformly deposited up to at least 12 layers, and have advantages of ready preparation, bathochromically shifted visible absorption bands and large photoelectric signals for the three CH2-containing hemicyanines, over previously reported Langmuir-Blodgett films of analogous hemicyanines.
