Thermal decompositions of Ammonium Perchlorate (AP) of various granularities at the pressures of 1.0MPa and 0.1MPa are details studied with the methods of pressure differential scanning calorimetry (PDSC), thermogravimetry (TG), the combination technique of in situ thermolysis cell with rapid-scan Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (Thermolysis/RSFT-IR) and the combination technique of thermal analysis, MS and rapid-scan Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (Thermal analysis-MS-FTIR). The results show that there are obvious differences in the thermal decomposition of AP with different granularities. The thermal decomposition processes of bigger granules of AP contain both of the stages of lower and higher temperature range, wherever, the processes of smaller granules of AP contain only the stages of higher temperature range. The gas products of AP decompositions consist of NO2, NO, N2O, O2, H2O and HCl.
