Reactive, macroporous and beaded glycidyl methacrylate-N, N'- methylene-bis (acrylamide) copolymers of widely varying crosslink densities were synthesized with formamide as progenic agent by inverse suspension copolymerization. The effects of crosslink density on structure properties and apparent activity of immobilized penicillin G acylase were investigated.Specific surface area increased, pore volume, porosity and average pore diameter decreased with concomitant increase in crosslinking monomer. Immobilized enzyme activity of 254.8 U/g was obtained with a polymer with ω = 60% crosslinking having a mean pore diameter of 4.9 nm and an oxirane group content of 0.005 mmol·m~(-2).
