The chemiluminescence of luminol- K2S2O8- metal ion system was examined for 32 metal ions. Ag(I), Al(III), Au(III), Mn(II), Ni(II), Os(VII), Rh(III), Pt(IV), Co(II), Cu(II), Fe(II), Fe(III), Ir(IV), Ru(III), Tl(I), U(VI), and Zn(II) enhanced the chemiluminescence of the system; the detection limits and the concentration ranges for linear calibration curves of these 16 metal ions are given. Ba(II), Ca(II), Pd(II), Cr(III), Mg(V), V(V) and Zr(IV) were determine by chemiluminescence quenching of the system and the detection limits are also given. Co(II) has the lowest detection limit (1.0 ?10-13 g/mL) among the examined metal ions; the linear calibration curve is in the range of 1.0 ?10-12-6.0 ?10-9 g/mL.
