A headspace-gas chromatography-quadrupole mass spectrometry (HS-GC-QMS) and a headspace-gas chromatography-time of flight mass spectrometry (HS-GC-TOFMS) have been utilized to analyze volatile compounds from Mentha hapioealyx Briq. The results showed that 39 and 64 volatile compounds were identified in the stems and leaves of Mentha hapioealyx Briq respectively, of which ketone and terpene compounds were the main components. This qualitative analysis strategy has a favourable application perspective in qualitative analysis of the volatile compounds from complex samples.
