Effect of Bonding Methods on Polydimethylsiloxane-Based Droplet Microfluidic Devices

The effect of different bonding approaches on the surface properties of microfluidic channel was studied by examining the results of employing droplet-based microfluidic devices fabricated by different bonding processes in water-in-oil emulsion and oil-in-water emulsion. The experimental results show that the water-in-oil droplet generation has a tendency towards a polydimethyl siloxane chip prepared by thermal diffusion bonding, while the oil-in-water droplet generation prefers a polydimethylsiloxane chip prepared by plasma bonding.
