Nine new alkoxybenzoyl derivatives of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone (PMP), including 5 C-acyl, 2 O-acyl and 2 C,O-diacyl derivatives, were synthesized. The study of acylation of PMP under different condition showed that the amts. of acyl chlorides and nature and amts. of bases used have great influence on the direction of the reaction. Preliminary extration studies of La and Y by the 5 C-alkoxylbenzoyl-PMPs showed that the extration power of 4-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoyl)-3-methyl-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone is better than that of PMBP.
