Studies on Template Synthesis Method for Fabrication of Hollow Microcapsules from Diphenyldimethoxysilane Monomer

Hollow polysiloxane microcapsules with diameters between 700 and 1500 nm were fabricated by consecutive cocondensation of bifunctional diphenyldimethoxysilane and trifunctional methyltrimethoxy- silane monomers onto emulsified polydiphenylsiloxane and subsequent removal of the surfactant and template core by exposure to certain solvents. In this paper, a further discussion has been carried out on the factors to influence the size and morphology of microcapsules. The results of transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy demonstrated that the particle size and shape were mainly controlled by varying the stirring rate.
