Through coordination-induced method, the process of micellization via rare earth metal Eu(Ⅲ)- bipyridine (bpy) with block copolymer of PEO-b-PAA (PEO113-b-PAA82) in different solvents [V(H2O)∶V(alcohol)=7.5∶1, 5∶1] has been studied. Fluorescence spectroscopy showed that Eu(Ⅲ)/bipyridine and Eu(III)/carboxyl of PAA could form coordinative complex, respectively. The coordinated micelles were formed through the coordination of Eu(III) and carboxyl of PAA in water. The morphologies and sizes of the micelles were characterized by dynamic laser scattering (DLS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and so on.
Key words: rare earth metal, double hydrophilic block copolymer, coordinated-induction, coordination micelle
