Synthesis and Characterization of TiO2-pillared Microporous Manganese Oxide

H-type layered manganese oxide was obtained by the ion exchange from its precursor Na-type material. A TiO2-pillared microporous manganese oxide with relative high porosity was successfully synthesized by preliminarily expanding the interlayer of H-type layered manganese oxide using dodecylamine, followed by titanate pillaring in a mixed solution of titanium isopropoxide and ethanol and subsequent heat treatment at 300 ℃ for 2 h. The materials obtained at different stages were characterized by XRD, DSC-TGA, SEM, TEM, IR, N2 adsorption-desorption and elemental analyses. TiO2-pillared microporous layered manganese oxide had a BET surface area of 140 m2/g with a galley height of about 0.95 nm between layers.
