Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy in combination with two-dimensional correlation analysis were applied to investigate the heating process of a deuterated nylon 1010 film. To suppress the interference of amide groups in the amorphous phase, the film was placed in heavy water for 4 weeks for deuteration and the deuteration rate was determined. The results indicated that the crystalline domains of nylon 1010 were gradually destroyed upon heating. During the heating process, the methylene groups in the backbone changed earlier than the dissociation process of the intermolecular hydrogen bonding of the amide groups.
Key words: nylon 1010, deuteration, near infrared spectroscopy, two-dimensional correlation analysis
