Solid state reaction of coordination compounds XXXIV. Some solid acid and base reactions of potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) and (II) at room temperature

Solid state reactions of potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) and potassium hexacyanoferrate(II) at room temperature were studied by IR and Mossbauer spectroscopy. The results show that the reaction of potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) and sodium borohydride takes place easily if solid sodium or potassium hydroxide is added. The solid state redox reaction of potassium hexacyanoferrate(II) and potassium peroxydisulfate, which takes place easily at room temperature, is restrained by solid potassium hydroxide. No solid state redox reaction occurs between oxalic acid dihydrate and potassium hexacyanoferrate(III), but a solid state substitution reaction takes place at room temperature.
