Polysilaether Containing Moiety Si-H Bonds in the Side Chain/PEO Composite Polymer Electrolyte II. Effects of PSEMH on the crystallization properties of PEO and ionic conductivity of PEO-PSEMH-LiClO4

Interactions between polysilaether containing moiety Si—H bonds in the side chain (PSEMH)
chains and polyethylene oxide (PEO) in PEO-PSEMH-LiClO4 solid-state composite polymer electrolytes
were studied by Raman, DSC and XRD techniques. The experimental result shows that PSEMH can inhibit
the crystalline nature of PEO and reduce its glass transition point at the same time, then enhancing the ionic
conductivity of the composite polymer electrolytes largely at lower temperature. In addition, the oxygen
atoms of SiSiO chain in PSEMH have coordination with Li+. After PSEMH was crosslinked, the crystalline
nature of PEO was inhibited and its glass transition point also reduced. The ionic conductivity of the
composite polymer electrolytes was higher than that of 100% PEO-LiClO4 (about 12 times) at lower
temperature, however, at high temperature the ionic conductivity of 100% PEO-LiClO4 was higher than that of
composite polymer electrolytes, proving that the polymer PSEMH has a significant contribution to the ionic
conductivity of composite polymer electrolyte.ity of composite polymer electrolyte.
