Preparation, Gas-Sensing and Acid-Base Properties of Hexagonal In2O3 Nano-Particles

Hexagonal In2O3 nanostructures with star-like morphology were synthesized using dodetyl amine (DDA) and oleic acid as template through a surfactant-assisted solvothermal process, characterized by TEM, SEM, XRD, IR, and TG/DTA. Testing results indicate that In2O3 shows an excellent response and selectivity to ethanol vapor at 300 ℃. The acid-base properties of In2O3 were studied by potentiometric titration technique. The concentration of surface hydroxyl was calculated. Within the range of pH=5~7.3, the preponderant surface component of In2O3 was ≡InOH.
